Playground and Sports Facility Project
Introduction
Villa Maria Children Foundation, through Queen of Peace Learning Centre located in Nabyewanga, Mpigi District, is undertaking the Playground and Sports Facility Project to provide children with a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for recreation, physical development, and talent nurturing. The project is designed to improve the well-being of orphaned and vulnerable children by creating a modern sports and play facility that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, creativity, discipline, and social interaction.
The proposed facility will serve children between the ages of 2–12 years and will also benefit the surrounding community and neighboring schools. The project seeks to promote sports as a tool for child development, community unity, and youth empowerment while supporting children emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially.

Project Objectives
- To provide a safe and child-friendly playground for learning and recreation
- To nurture talents and abilities through sports and physical activities
- To improve children’s physical health, confidence, and emotional well-being

Project Components
The project will include:
- Children’s playground equipment such as swings, slides, climbing frames, seesaws, and play towers
- Football, netball, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and indoor games facilities
- Pavilion seating and shaded resting areas
- Accessible walkways and ramps for children with disabilities
- Safety fencing and gates
- Electrical lighting and water systems
- Landscaping and green recreational spaces

Importance of the Project
The Playground and Sports Facility Project will provide children with opportunities to learn, grow, and develop in a healthy environment. Sports and recreation help children build confidence, improve concentration, develop discipline, and strengthen friendships. The facility will also create a positive atmosphere where children can discover and develop their talents while staying active and engaged.
In addition, the project will promote community development by creating employment opportunities, encouraging social cohesion, and providing a safe gathering place for children and families.
Project Budget
The estimated total cost of the project is approximately $904802.22. The budget covers site preparation, construction materials, sports infrastructure, playground equipment, safety installations, electrical works, plumbing, transport, and labor.
